Asturias Regional Asthma Plan


Regional Asthma Plan for Children with Asthma ( PRANA) was presented in Oviedo (Asturias-Spain) on 7th May 2002 (World Asthma Day).
This is the first governamental initiative in Spain, involving a lot of groups, societies and official institutions related to asthma and health care.
about sixty people (pediatricians, allergist, chest physicians, nurses, physioterapist, health managers, pharmaceutics and families) have participated in the workshop devoted to develop PRANA document . 
PRANA document follows the GINA approaches.
 

Fourteen thousand children and adolescents

Target population of the Plan is estimated in 14,000 children and adolescenst (0-14 years) living in the Principality of Asturias. This data comes from Asturias Prevalence Study (1998). Nowadays, Asturias is participating in ISAAC phase III, and this study allows us a better knowledge of this data.

A collective effort

All public hospitals and primary health care centers of Asturias will participate in the Plan, which means about one hundred groups of health providers. Besides, interventions in schools and in Pharmacy Office will be developed in the Plan.
