1.-It is possible to die from asthma?

This question was available in our website between 1st November 2002 and 16th April 2003.
We collected answers from 322 people.
81.71% said Yes, 10,98% no and 7,32% I don't know.
Yes is right. It is possible to die from asthma

2.-Can children with asthma have pets?

This question was available in our website between 17th April and 27th august 2003.
We collected answers from 621 people.
48.4% said Yes, 45.2% no and 6.4% I don't know.
This topic is constantly involved in controversy. There are several studies and with discordant results.
In a general way, is recommended children with asthma don't have pets (Cats, Dogs, Hamsters) in their home, specially if this children have allergy too.

3.-Is asthma an infectious disease?

This question was available in our website between 28th August 2003 and 20th February 2004.
We collected answers from 1020 people (both in Spanish and English version).
82.51% said No, 10,66% Yes and 6.04% Can´t say.
Of course, asthma isn´t an infectious disease. Causes involving asthma are related to genetic factors, atopy and enviroment factors. But asthma is not caused by bacteries, viruses an other infectious agents.
It is possible this agents trigger an asthma attack, but only in asthmatic people. That means if you haven´t got asthma an you have an infection, that infection never causes you asthma.
It is important pay atention between "cause" and "trigger"

4.-Does asthma cure when children become an adult?

This question was available in our website between 20th February and 19th July2004.
We collected answers from 1.276people (both in Spanish and English version).
44,13% said yes, el 43,88% no and 11,99% can´t say
It is the first time people opinion doesn´t coincide with actual state of art.
We know the most of the children with asthma, remain asthmatics in adult age, specially if this children have moderate or severe asthma, are allergic o they have parents with asthma or allergy

5.-Asthma is more frecuent in....

This question was available in our website between 20th July 2004 and 12th April 2005
We collected answers from 1.161 people (both in Spanish and English version).
72,1% said boys, el 16,6% girls  and 11,3% can´t say
Asthma in childhood is more frecuent in boys. This trend change at teenagers, becoming more frecuent in women at adult age

Cada vez son más los estudios que ponen en relación cáncer y asma.
A falta de información definitiva, el asma, en algunos casos, podría aumentar el riesgo de cáncer de pulmón.
