home > Influenza Vaccination
Influenza (Flu) is a common disease affecting children and adults.
This disease is caused by a virus, with a peculiar characteristic: virus
often change its phenotype (it means: features, composition...), even every
year.
In people with chronic illness, like asthmatic people, this trivial disease
must be fatal.
This situation happens because influenza can produce pneumonia which drives
to loss of pulmonary function and people with asthma can worsen.
But it is possible to prevent this disease using an specific vaccine against
influenza.
Because virus often changes, vaccines composition changes frequently according the new virus features.
Our recommendation is: All infants, children,
adolescents and adults with asthma must receive influenza vaccine every
year.
